Why Investing in a Home Water Purifier Can Improve Household Health

July 15th, 2010 admin No comments

There are numerous contaminants that plague most municipal water supplies. Investing in a home water purifier can help reduce or eradicate these. By consuming less of these known toxins, your family can easily improve their health, boost their energy, and restore their physical balance.

One of the main and major known contaminants is chlorine. Chlorination is the process by which all municipalities kill viruses, parasites and bacteria that cause disease. This process was implemented more than 100 years ago to help the developing nation overcome it battle with typhoid, cholera and other such ailments. Now that chlorine is known to cause ill health, it is still used as a disinfectant.

Drinking from an unfiltered tap not only means that you are consuming considerable amounts of chlorine however. The presence of fluoride is a huge issue, sparking debate across the board about its advantages and disadvantages as it is used in the water supply. The more that is known about the effects of consuming fluoride on the human body, however, the less likely individuals are wont to continue to consume.

Fluoride was once thought to be advantageous to the dental health of the population, and thus it was introduced to municipal water supplies accordingly. Currently it is understood that fluoride really only benefits the teeth when applied topically such as with toothpaste. Drinking it, in any way causes more harm to the human body than good. There are numerous ill health effects that have been determined, one of which is the calcification of the pineal gland which helps regulate the production of the hormone melatonin. Others include the altering of bone structure and bone density, and numerous adverse effects on brain function.

Both chlorine and fluoride when consumed are known to be carcinogenic. In fact, fluoride is classified as being more toxic than lead, and yet there is significantly more fluoride in the common water supply than lead. Even these brief facts will inspire families to begin researching water purification systems that have the capability to remove these harmful additions. Sad to say however, in many areas contaminants far exceed beyond the bounds of both fluoride and chlorine, and recognized chemicals can be as many as 200 or more in certain water sheds.

Knowing which contaminants your tap is subject to is one of the first steps in selecting your home water purifier. Some systems are better than others at removing specific chemical types. Reading online ratings and reviews can help you choose a purification attachment or system that adequately cleanses the water that you and your family cook with, bathe in and consume.

Rising Interest Rates, Fuel And Healthcare Costs – What Can You Do?

April 10th, 2010 admin No comments

I stopped obsessing over the rising cost of fuel, rising interest rates and healthcare costs. I started to make myself crazy and realized I was worrying about things I really had no control over. Or do I? I did come to realize that I do have control over these costs.

I took personal control over my finances and the cost of my healthcare costs and I started to feel empowered. I recently read an article in which it was debated if due to the rising costs of healthcare on the consumer would individuals become sicker and not seek medical attention because of this cost. The article then went on to debate that you have personal choices and most people spend their money on entertainment, clothes and or vacations. You have to make apersonal choice to be healthy.

The one common denominator of your finances is the lifestyle you choose to live. Are you the type of person who lives beyond your means, or spends your bonus money even before you receive it? Your lifestyle impacts your finances and most of all your health. Many individuals go about their day the same way everyday. Why change something that works? Or does it? Do you feel you are making healthy choices everyday from taking care of you, nutrition, the way Read more…

Family Health Insurance – It Can Be Affordable

February 19th, 2010 admin No comments

When you have a family, it is important to have great family health insurance. Families with children will spend more on health care in a year than anyone else. Without family health insurance, your family could pay thousands of dollars each year on medical care costs. Whether you get your insurance through your employer or through an individual plan, it is vital to have great insurance for your family and for yourself. When looking over plans, consider these tips.

Doctor Visits

A family with children will visit the doctor quite a few times throughout the year. Routine checkups, immunizations, and common illnesses will fill your life until your child is in school. With each visit ranging from $65 to $200 each, without insurance you would be spending a lot on health care. Once your children are in school, they will likely need to visit the doctor more frequently due to common illnesses that are easily spread through schools. When you look at different medical insurance plans, consider these things. You will want to choose a plan that has the lowest co-pay you can afford. Most of the time, the monthly rate will increase with lower co-pays. Think about it and choose the plan that will ultimately save you the most.

The Importance Of Money

February 9th, 2010 admin No comments

I have always wanted to be rich. I want to live a life filled with luxuries. I want to be the envy of others. In my opinion, wealth is something that could buy a lot of things. Money can bring you happiness. However, I do not deny that there are many things that money cannot buy. In fact, I believe that there are other more important things in life than money.

I am born into a middle class family. My family is neither poor nor rich. We are able to afford basic necessities and some luxuries. Also, I am blessed with parents who care a lot for me. They work hard to provide for me and my brother. My brother and I are able to lead a carefree life. I am thankful for all that I have. However, I do not deny that I want more. I want to be truly rich. I want to be able to afford everything that I want.

Being rich can make my life more comfortable. I will be able to buy a big house with servants. I will be able to afford luxurious cars with chauffeurs. I will be able to dine in expensive restaurants. I will be able to afford a private jet in which I can visit all the beautiful countries. Pretty girls will flock to me. I will be able to enjoy relaxing spas. People will look up to me. I believe that money will make me a happier person. I may sound superficial. But these are things that truly only the rich can afford and I to be the rich. If you were given a billion dollars right now, I am sure that you will be a happier person.

I believe that money can buy many luxuries. However, I feel that health is still the most important. I would rather be healthy than Read more…

Save Money On Auto Insurance, Business Insurance, Health Insurance

October 29th, 2009 admin No comments

These days insurance have been swarming the four corners of the United States. Whether we like it or not, insurance is a need. Why? There is no denying the fact that one disaster can have a devastating effect on a firm, a family and an individual. It can be damage, bankruptcy and death to name a few. What are the factors that we should consider and how can we know the insurance that we need.

CAR/AUTO INSURANCE

One has to consider the purpose of owning it whether for personal use, for public transport use like a private taxi, or use for transportation of goods and industrial materials. Age is also a major consideration. Old vehicles pay a higher premium than new ones. The type and model of the vehicle has a major role also. When buying car/auto insurance online, there are sites that provide automated tools. They?re using an auto coverage analyzer where you have to answer a few question about your financial standing, automobile condition, etc. From this information it will generate what category of coverage you need.

BUSINESS INSURANCE

There are insurance companies which have policies that combine protection for all major property and liability risks in one package. But you could also go with a separate coverage which is called a business owner?s policy (BOP). For protection against flood damage, find out if your office is in the flood zone-area. And if so, you must go for a policy that provides coverage against flood. Special Earthquake Insurance Policy or Commercial Property Earthquake Endorsement can cover you if you live in an earthquake-prone area. However, its policies have different deductibles. Meanwhile, Business Interruption insurance, reimburses you for the lost income during a shutdown only applies to damage covered under this policy. On the other hand, Terrorism Risk Insurance Act 2002 covers loss due to any terrorism only for those businesses that have this coverage. Injuries and deaths due to acts of terrorism are exceptions in worker?s compensation.

HEALTH INSURANCE

With health insurance, you protect yourself and your family in case you need medical care that could be very expensive. If you have insurance, many of your costs are covered by a third-party payer (insurance company/employer), not by you.

KINDS OF HEALTH INSURANCE

Group Insurance

Most Americans get health insurance through their jobs or are covered because a family member has insurance at work. Group insurance is generally the least expensive kind. In many cases, the employer pays part or all of the cost.
Some employers offer only one health insurance plan. Some employers offer a choice of plans. These are:

a) Fee-for-Service
Insurance companies pay fees for the services provided to the insured people covered by the policy. This type of health insurance offers the most choices of doctors and hospitals. You can choose any doctor you wish and change doctors any time. You can go to any hospital in any part of the country. The insurer only pays for part of your doctor and hospital bills.

b) Health Maintenance Organizations (HMOs)
Health maintenance organizations are prepaid health plans. As an HMO member, you pay a monthly premium. In exchange, Read more…

Important Things To Consider In Order To Easily Choose A Good Health Insurance Plan

October 16th, 2009 admin No comments

When it comes to choosing a good health insurance plan, do you know what sort of things you should be looking for? Trying to find the right plan can be very confusing, because there are so many options available. But one thing’s for sure – you should never choose a plan based solely on how much it’s going to cost you each month. There are plenty of more important factors, including what it actually does and doesn’t cover, what co-payment amounts are involved, the in-network or out-networks costs and coverage, the deductible amount (if applicable) and the coverage caps.

The first thing to do when you’re looking for a good health insurance plan is to work out what exactly your needs are. Some of these needs are fairly simple – do you need cover just for yourself, or yourself and a spouse, perhaps a couple and one child, or a full family plan? Then you need to think about the level of health enjoyed by each person you want to cover. Are you all basically in good health? Do any of you have a pre-existing condition that may not be covered, or may require special cover? Do you expect that any of you will need access to medical institutions or particular medical specialists?

Once you’ve sat down and worked out the answers to these basic questions, you can start the process of looking for a good health insurance plan. The next stage is to consider what options are available. These options can be limited if you’re taking out group insurance through an employer, as you will only be able to choose what the company offers. That may make your decisions easier! You certainly need to understand the difference between a Managed Care Plan and an Indemnity Plan, as these are two main types of health insurance plans available today.

A Managed Care Plan is quite restrictive, because it dictates that you must use the medical institutions and professionals that are included in the plan’s ‘network’. You may find that you need to get pre-approval for any medical service that isn’t included as part of basic preventative care. The upside is that this type of plan is usually cheaper than Indemnity Plans. So Read more…

Affordable Health Insurance

August 27th, 2009 admin No comments

There is an obvious need for affordable health insurance. We constantly see in the news something about the health care crisis. Last night, in the state of the union address, president Bush talked briefly about the problems facing the elderly.

In spite of all the talk and posturing, no one seems to have any real solutions. Is it even possible to develop a plan that would ease the burden on the system, and at the same time help the most needy? None of the plans so far presented by the health care system, or the government, offer more than a Band-Aid approach to fixing the problem.

So what if anything can be done? Is there anything that will really work?

Yes, in my opinion, there is a solution. It will require a complete revamping of the entire system, not just throwing money at the insurance crisis.

The system in Canada is not a real answer, though in some respects it may seem so.

In the current system private insurance companies and the government, collect money so they can pay doctors to fail. That is the heart of the problem. As long as we pay doctors to fail, they will continue to do so.

So what do I mean by this. As the system is set up we pay doctors for trying to make us better after we have gotten sick. They have no incentive to really help a person get well and stay well, for life!

What we need is a system that only rewards doctors if the person stays well. For instance suppose rather than paying an insurance company we actually paid the doctor or hospital a small monthly or annual fee while we were well. Now suppose, what do you think would happen if we could stop paying them, if we got sick, until a set amount of time after we were well again?

Do you think that they would then have an incentive to keep their patients well?

The real causes of disease are well known. They have been proven beyond any doubt. But those in the world health system, say that their patients are too stubborn to change what they do, so why tell them how to get well?

If your doctor knew what was causing your health crisis, would you want him/her, to prescribe an expensive ongoing treatment to hide the symptoms, or would you want to be told what you could do, at little or no cost, to eliminate it completely?

The big question I would ask is this; are you really too stubborn to change, or would you like to know what causes disease so you can eliminate it, or prevent it from developing in the first place?

Because it would Read more…

Health Insurance

August 26th, 2009 admin No comments

When you are in your late teens and twenties, possibly up to the age of forty, it?s hard for people to understand why they need health insurance. For some people, it may be less expensive to pay full price when going to the doctor then pay the monthly fee associated with health insurance. These people may ask whether or not health insurance is even worth it. For most people, however, health insurance is a huge money saver. But what are the different types of health insurance and how should you go about determining what is right for you.

There are mainly two types of insurance: Indemnity plans and managed care plans. Indemnity plans are insurance plans in which an insurer reimburses the insured for medical expenses no matter who provided the service. There are three plans within the indemnity category. These include reimbursement of actual charges, reimbursement of a percentage of the actual charges and indemnity. In the first plan, the insurer will reimburse for the entire cost of the service, the second plan covers a percentage, while indemnity pays a certain amount daily for a certain number of days.

Managed care plans have three main types: HMOs (Health Maintenance Organizations), PPOs (Preferred Provider Organizations) and finally POSs (Point of Service plans). In an HMO plan, members pay a flat monthly rate. In most circumstances, the Read more…

Alternative Low Cost Health Insurance – Staying On Top Of It

August 25th, 2009 admin No comments

Some things in life are taken for granted and the privilege of having health insurance may be one of them. Employers have to give their employees some kind of benefit program in their overall compensation package. The employee expects it and enjoys the security of having good health insurance. Everything changes when the employee leaves the employer. Insurance decisions have to be made. No one can escape from this process. The employee soon finds the cost to continue the insurance to be much more than expected and they start scrambling for alternatives. Are there alternatives? What can be done to reduce the cost?

There has been a major shift in thinking by the insurance buying public over alternatives to lowering the cost of health insurance. Low deductibles are a thing of the past. It has taken some time to change the thinking about having low deductibles. Low deductibles mean less out of pocket expense. It works the opposite in today?s market for health insurance. The premiums paid for lower deductibles are so high that it no longer makes sense to have them. The higher deductibles reduce the premium dramatically. There are deductibles as large as Read more…

Affordable Health Care Insurance – More Companies Are Providing Ways To Save

August 25th, 2009 admin No comments

It?s not easy to say affordable and health care insurance in the same sentence. They don?t seem to peacefully co-exist. The relative simplicity of purchasing health insurance has all but vanished. That doesn?t mean that the insurance buying public is out of options. Insurance plans are more complicated now. There are more deductibles. There are PPO?S and HMO?S. There are medically underwritten plans and some companies even have income based plans. There are more coinsurance combinations and varying amounts of co-pays for physician services. It sounds like the insurance companies have made things more difficult but in reality they have provided options to reduce costs.

The out of pocket expenses are increasing for the health insurance buyer. Self-insuring is what makes affordable health care insurance become a reality. There is no better way to reduce premium costs than by using higher deductibles. We used to purchase health insurance with a $100 deductible. The insurance company was on the hook immediately. The rising medical costs have made that prohibitive.

Once your deductible is fulfilled another out of pocket expense occurs. This is called coinsurance. The Read more…
